The Challenge | Rise to Resilience!

You are a newly appointed Regional Green Engineer. Your challenge is to develop green infrastructure solutions for complex challenges in water management and risk reduction.Create a tool to assess the characteristics of an urban or rural area of your choice, and integrate green infrastructures, or nature-based solutions, into that region’s development plans to1) reduce flood and/or drought risk2) establish sustainable land use practices3) support water management, and/or 4) produce local economic opportunities.

Oxygen Rebate Model

This IoT-based model incentivises people to contribute to national target of reducing carbon footprint and producing oxygen.

O.R.M.

O.R.M. | Oxygen Rebate Model

1.Executive Summary

Our idea ORM is about encouraging people to plant trees in their property. We focused on producing local economic opportunities. In our idea, a household can save money by producing oxygen (planting tree) in their property.

2.Introduction

O.R.M. is all about preservening the land for future generations.

3.Problem

Global warming, pollution, oxygen concentration are all a very big threat to our environment. We are using more oxygen than we are producing it. The government is trying but they cannot achieve it alone.

4.Solution

a.The idea

We are developing a system in which the whole community works to reduce the carbon footprint.

b.The design

The design is very similar to a solar panel. An IoT circuit will be placed around a tree that will send information every thirty minutes through the 3G/ 4G network. The data will be very minimal so the cost of transmission will be very less. Just like excessive solar panel generated electricity is sent back to the grid and is bought back by the government, based on how much oxygen you produce in a household, you will be rebated by the government.

c. Implementation

The device will be very easy to install, just attach it to the tree and voila!

d. Cost

Each device will cost approximately $10.

6.Sustainability

The device itself will last a long time, but it is for the government to decide the rebate.
