The Challenge | Smash your SDGs!
Your challenge is to develop creative solutions that use Earth observations to address the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and foster sustainable development worldwide. Use NASA and other Earth observing satellites’ data as well as information generated by crowd-sourcing and in-situ measurements to create practical applications that support environmental and societal policy across water, health, food security and/or land use domains.
Aquonst
The team is going to use data from Free Satellite Images in combination with data given from a Cubesat Constellation to Monitor, Control and Manage Surface Water Resources.
Aquonst, a Constellation for Aquoa, is a project on using (FREE) Satellite Images and processed data on NASA servers in a Big Data platform to know more about Surface Waters and their Resources and Reservoirs. So, there will be a management plan to control and use these water resources in the best way. Adding IoT technology to this system and using a Cubesat constellation, the Resources and Reservoirs may be monitored directly and usage control may be applied. The constellation not only can serve this task, may be used for other added value service, such as Natural Disaster Management. Future generations of the constellation may be equipped to more sensors to work as an Early Warning system, as well.
