YOSS (Your Own Solar System)
In this game the player is allowed to customize its own star and planets.Taking into account the parameters the user selected, the program clasifies the spatial objects and gives the user more information about each one, thus being an educational simulator
YOUR OWN SOLAR SYSTEM (YOSS
In this simulator the you will be able to customize your own star, changing its physical properties as you want. You will also be able to choose characteristics of the planets that possibly could fit in your new system. The objective of this game is you to learn about some of the types of stars and planets that are in our universe, showing the diversity of spatial objects that exist in our environment and spread the amazing discoverments astronomy has bring us, encouraging the study of this beautiful science.
First you select the properties of your new star, such as temperature, radius and mass. Based on this parameters the program will give you information about the spectral type of your star, its luminosity and its wavelenght emission peak. The program will also tell you the type of your star, and an image will we displayed on the screen.
After this, the same procedure is developed for getting the planets of your system. You will be asked to select the orbital radius, planet radius and mass of your new planet. Then the program will tell you the density of the planet, its orbital period, escape velocity, acceleration of gravity and temperature. Based on the characteristics of your star and the orbital radius you selected, the program will notify you if it is possible the existance of water in your planet, such an important thing for the existance of life. After all this, the program will tell you the type of your planet and an image of it will be displayed on the screen.
The types in which the program will classify the planets and stars (depending of their qualities) are:
- Stars: Blue Giant, Blue Supergiant, White Dwarf, Red Giant, Red Supergiant, Red Dwarf, Yellow Dwarf, Neutron Star
- Planets: Hot Jupiter, Super Earth, Gas Giant, Rocky Giant, Oceanic Planet (if it has water)
Each one of the parameters the user is allowed to select and the additional information the program provides, will have a brief explanation; thus everyone can play this game although they doesn't have a lot of knowledge of astronomy.
The program could include future actualizations and improvements acording to the new scientific discoveries in the field of exoplantes.
