The Challenge | Build a Planet
Your challenge is to create a game that will allow players to customize the characteristics of a star and design planets that could reasonably exist in that star system. Ensure that this game provides an educational experience for players!
Build Your Own Star System in Augmented Reality
An Augmented Reality game which allows you to build your own star system and also have fun while doing it.
Our Approach
- The main objective of the game is to create a planet with appropriate characteristics and place it in the Goldilocks’s zone (Habitable Zone).
- The planet should be able to sustain itself in the user created star-system.
- The game allows the user to customise various parameters of the planet and the star.
Flow of the Game
- The user can customise the mass and volume of the planet and the distance from the star as well.
- The type of star (O,B,A,F,G,K,M) and its absolute magnitude can be changed accordingly
- Based on these parameters, if the planet doesn't lie in the habitable zone, an error will be displayedaccordingly with a detailed analysis of what could be wrong. This lets players make a more informed decision of where they can place their planet.
Theory
- By using the volume and mass inputs, we are able to calculate the density, which will give the composition of the planet.
- This will give the approximate appearance of the planet, by comparing it to other planets of the same density.
- The type of star selected by the user will decide the colour and luminosity.
