The Challenge | Up, Out, and Away!

Your challenge is to generate a virtual reality environment or game related to the James Webb Space Telescope’s mission. Allow the user to follow Webb on its journey from launch to its final destination in orbit a million miles away from Earth!

Little Webb

Little Webb is a mobile game application aimed for children to learn about space in a fun way.

NASA Fun Team

The challenge chosen is UP, OUT and AWAY. Little Webb is a mobile game application developed to promote space education to children through an interactive space adventure. This application utilizes data from the James Webb Space Telescope and other NASA technology. Many websites and applications on outer space are often filled with context that presents information like a textbook. This way of presenting an idea is often either boring or overwhelming to people resulting to discouragement to further their interests. The applications solves the issue and enlightens children to discover more about the outer space.

The resources used in the application were the 3D model of the James Webb Space Telescope, the NASA website gallery images like the image of the day, and the James Webb Space Telescope mission website. Several images were obtained from google image search. The software used to build the application Little Webb was Buildbox™ and Adobe Photoshop for the graphics

The challenges faced in creating the application are the context, software and application level. It was difficult to connect the processes of searching for needed information, matching the data obtained with the target usage and presenting the research made in a child-friendly application.
