We choose to do this challenge, becouse we try to visibilize the problems that debris around the Earth at LOE can cause in short term time, such as data science satellite, telecommunication satellite, or even ISS damage in short term, or long term like we couldn’t be able to continue the interstellar exploration.
It uses the USSPACECOM TLE ‘s database, using a Python script to filter the critical information of debris like latitude, longitude, height from sea level and ID.
In order to better understand the facts, with these data and a scaled Earth, LOE objects filtered above and a fictional spaceship, we developed this game to bring the measure of space debris problem to the common of the people.
Our task, inside the game as player, is being the spaceship commander that clean all the debris larger than 10cm that we have tracked. That will give the player a aproximation of what the ISS and other satellites have to manouver to avoid all theses large debris to keep in orbit.
At first we use USSPACECOM TLE’s database, also we have read many scientific articles that report, debris data, current or past projects that try to solve the problem, and measures to aproach the gameplay to the reality.
We have used the infraestructure of Everis Spain at Valladolid, and also they provided food, snacks and coffee.
Trying to add some features that are going to be implemented in the e.Deorbit ESA Project, porting the game to IOS/Andriod and Web platforms, and impoving all the physics included in it. Maybe some robotic arm, harpoon or net, will be added to the spaceship
