The Challenge | Orbital Scrap Metal — The Video Game

Nuts, bolts, spent rocket stages, and broken pieces of satellites orbiting Earth are just a few of the many thousands of items known as orbital debris, or space junk. Your challenge is to create an orbital debris collection videogame web-app! You may build upon NASA’s Spacebirds and real data.

Happy Debris ver2.0

Happy Debriday!

Web service "Happy Debriday" is an online game to bid on space debris, in which the debris is considered as speculative assets. Anyone can play this bidding game.

PROBLEM:
Currently, 2 types of space debris expected to cause a possible accident in the space.
  • Large debris such as discarded rockets or defunct satellites
  • Small debris such as detached parts or broken equipments

SOLUTION:
We consider already-detected large space debris not as junk but speculative asset for investment, and Happy Debris Project created the web site in which players can bid prices on space debris. The bet ends at the point the junk falls to the Earth.

The last owners of the fallen space debris will get the return of 50 % of the total bit amount on the fallen target.

The rest of 50 % will be used for the research and development of small space debris removal system TORIMOCHI, and administration of the Happy Debris' web site.

The TORIMOCHI system plans to cover large debris with sticky substance which can attached small debris.
(The name of TORIMOCHI means Japanese traditional sticky substance)

Small debris are collected by the large debris with the TORIMOCHI system. We bet on the last moment when debris falls to the Earth!
