The Brisbane event will see the attendance of 10 people with very different backgrounds - from designers to data-scientists to coders. Teams will work together on solving real-world challenges provided by NASA.
Two local winning projects will be competing on the global level - The global winners will be invited to a rocket launch at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida!

- Gather the team and make sure that all participants have registered on the official site (here Signup) and noted the participation in the Locations section of the Brisbane page https://2019.spaceappschallenge.org/locations/brisbane-australia/.
- Choose tasks from NASA experts on the Challenges page (the task page will be available in late August). The task details listed on the Challenges page will help you create a quality hackathon project.
- Wait for the start of the hackathon (October 18-20) to start working on the project.

Global Collaborators 🌎🌍🌏
Space Apps Brisbane will, in the spirit of scientific development, be connected to Ukraine, Russia and Poland. With a live streaming booth, participants are invited to form teams that include participants from the collaborating locations.

NASA Innovation Initiative
NASA empowers people from all specialisations (and all skill-levels from amateur to expert) to apply multidisciplinary skills and knowledge to grand challenges, by inviting them to take initiative, think boldly, and act globally. The NASA Brisbane International will be hosted on the 19th and 20th of October 2019.
Innovation Initiative
NASA’s International Space Apps Challenge has become the world’s largest global hackathon, engaging thousands of citizens across the globe to use NASA’s open data to build innovative solutions to challenges we face on Earth and in space.
Global Collaboration
In a world-wide collaboration, local delegates compete against international teams during the weekend-long event. In 2018, the global event took place in 187 locations, where 25,000 participants worked on innovative projects. The international competition attracts talent from a multiplicity of disciplines, including science, engineering, technology, mathematics, health, law, business, education and creative industries.

- Is the event free?
Yes! The event is totally free!
The organizing team is working hard to cover additional expenses such as food and drinks for all participants!
- Can I join the hackathon as an individual?
Absolutely! You can join the hackathon as an individual or as a team. If you are looking for teammates, you will have the chance to chat with other participants right at the event opening on Friday evening and create your team or join an existing one!
- Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
That would be useful! NOTE: The official registration to the event will happen on Friday evening via the official NASA Space Apps event page.
- What else do I need to bring?
Bring your laptop, charger and a good mood!
