2019 NASA INTERNATIONAL SPACE APPS CHALLENGE (ILOILO)
OCTOBER 18-20, AC ILOILO - CENTRAL PHILIPPINE UNIVERSITY
OVERVIEW
NASA Space Apps Challenge is an international hackathon that occurs over 48 hours in cities around the world. Coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, technologists, and everyone enthusiastic about curiosity come together to address the challenges we face on Earth and in space! Space Apps gives you the opportunity to bring projects to life for a wide range of applications. We are looking forward to seeing what innovative, creative ideas you bring to the community this year.
The world needs your ideas! Space Apps is your chance to experience, experiment, and explore solutions to our universe’s biggest challenges! As the countdown to our eighth year of Space Apps continues, we are increasingly eager to have problem-solvers of all walks of life join us on the journey.
This year, the American Spaces Philippines of the U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section and the American Corner at Central Philippine University are hosting an exciting, collaborative scientific exploration, as we pair NASA’s data with problem solvers across the globe. Join us on October 18-20 for the 2019 International Space Apps Challenge, with challenges to better understand Earth and Space!
Last year’s hackathon was the largest yet for the Philippines, with 200 events and more than 18,000 people participating across six continents. The U.S. Embassy and the American Corner in Manila - De La Salle University collaborated to bring the Philippines to the global stage to win as Global Champion in the Galactic Impact category. But more importantly, it was an event that brought together a diverse range of individuals, groups, organizations, institutions, and communities to share their talents and skills to find solutions to the most pressing challenges in the world and the universe! We’re excited to continue the tradition of community building through innovation; we are inviting students and professionals, beginners and veterans from all corners of the Philippines to join the journey!
We look forward to selecttwo (2) teams who will represent the Philippines to compete in the NASA Space Apps Global Competition. Exciting prizes await our participants.
